Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Culture & Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal launched the career counseling workshop ‘Paramarsh 2022’ for the students of the Bikaner District region on 15th February 2022. The National Institute of Career Services (NICS) under the Ministry of Labour & Employment and Edumilestones organized with the Directorate of Education, Bikaner, along with principals, civil society, students, 200+ Certified Career Analysts, Guardians, and other relevant stakeholders for organizing the workshops of 1000+ schools covering around 1 lakh students of Bikaner.

More than one Lakh students from rural areas participated in the event, Union Minister Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal stated that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the central government has taken various initiatives to bring out the full potential of the Youth in Nation Building Process. The nation is celebrating the AzadiKaAmritMahotsav on the 75th Year of Independence. It is an apt moment to reflect our progress and resolve for the upcoming AmritKaal upto the year 2047 when we will be celebrating the centenary celebration of our independence.

Highlighting the role of Youth for building New India, Union Minister said that ‘The ongoing technological changes, digital transformation has led to changing the pedagogy & learning methodology for students. The present 4th Industrial Revolution Era has brought out new dimensions to the career opportunities across the sector. The emerging trend of the startup ecosystem increasing the number of unicorns is a positive sign and testimony of the brilliance of the younger generation. Appreciating the organizers’ efforts, he mentioned that the career counseling workshop like “Paramarsh” will help students make a more informed decision.

Before this mega career counseling workshop, around 1000 teachers were trained as career ambassadors in all schools of Bikaner for smooth & purposeful execution of the entire project. The objection of Paramarsh 2022 workshop was an extension of the efforts to bridge the industry academia gap and impart the knowledge about various choices available to the student dilemmas of students for utilizing their best talent and their defining role in nation building. The ongoing workshop is not limited to training of teachers and career workshop for students, but it is also proposed that an offline and online career assessment and service of Edumilestones digital career library will be facilitated to all students.

The students from the private & government school from the remote area solicited guidance from the domain experts from Business, Policy planning, Industries Associations, Art, Culture, Media, Medical, Architecture, Biotechnology, and Finance and Marketing sectors.  Mr. Surendra Patawari, Chairman of Gemini Corporation from Belgium, Bindeshwari Pathak, Founder of Sulabh International, Rajender Singh Pahl, CEO of Star Promotion from Huston, Rajendra Ratanu, JS DPIIT Shreyas Bothra, Nari Shakti Awardee Ruma Devi, among others joined the workshop as a special guest and inspired students with their motivating thoughts.

A Champion Like No Other: 14-Year Old Ana Varshney Ranks 12 in the All India Tennis Association in Under-16

In Her Own League: Actress Anshu Varshney’s 14-Year Old Daughter Ana Varshney Ranks 12 in the All India Tennis Association

Those who identify their calling early in life and work tremendously hard towards achieving them never lose focus and achieve all that they wish to. 14-year-old Ana Varshney’s success story serves as a testimony to this. At the very young age of three, Ana’s father encouraged her to take up a sport. He started teaching her the ropes of tennis and in very little time, Ana picked up the nuances of this outdoor sport and became very good at it. Seeing her inherent talent in tennis, her parents enrolled her in a sports institute in Noida for professional training. To polish her skills further, Ana played in several other institutes including the Jassowal’s Harvest Tennis Academy in Punjab.

After winning several tournaments across India and setting many records, Ana has now been ranked 12 in the All India Tennis Association. This is a major achievement for a sportsperson, more so for somebody who is just 14 years of age.

Talking about this achievement, Ana says, “I feel humbled to be recognized by the All India Tennis Association and ranked so highly by them. When my efforts get validation, I feel further motivated to work hard and improve my skills. I am happy that I found my passion at the age of three and I hope I make my country proud with this sport.”

Ana’s success as a tennis player can be attributed to her disciplined lifestyle and focus on her sport. Unlike most teenagers, Ana keeps a distance from social media, television and junk food. She prefers being in the lap of nature and her diet comprises of milk, fruits and vegetables. After waking up early in the morning, she spends a good amount of time working out and then, gets ready for school. She manages to keep a fine balance between her studies and practice sessions and ensures that she gets to do everything that makes her happy.

Elaborating further on her journey as a professional tennis player, Ana says, “It’s been three years since I started playing tennis professionally. I have been fortunate enough to be a part of many memorable tournaments. I have played in the under-16 category and once I managed to secure a win against an opponent who was among the top 5 AITA rankers at that point of time. While wins make everybody happy, what I wish for is a match played well.”

One person who has contributed greatly to Ana’s success is her mother, Anshu Varshney. Apart from being a part of the entertainment industry for the last several years, Anshu is also a popular motivational speaker. She was crowned Mrs. India Runner Up in the year 2018 and has been a part of TV commercials for brands like Dabur, HDFC, Dettol, Cadbury, Everest and Philips among others. She has appeared in many popular TV shows like The Kapil Sharma Show and is widely remembered for her performances in digital shows like ALTBalaji’s ‘Mentalhood’.

On supporting her daughter towards achieving her goals, Anshu says, “In a lot of ways, I started a new journey as an actor and a motivational speaker in the second innings of my life. Even when something goes wrong, my mother makes me realize there will be another day and many great opportunities will come. She is my biggest cheerleader and strongest support system”, Ana says.

Ana’s father Abhishek Varshney, who inspired her to take up sports at the age of three, says, “I have always believed that making sports a part of one’s life helps in building personality and confidence. Tennis was an integral part of my life, so I thought of introducing Ana to it. However, the way she picked it up left me amazed. She was born to be a sportsperson. As parents, we have tried to do our best for her but it’s her discipline and passion for tennis that has helped her reach where she is today.”

With the kind of achievements Ana has to her credit already, she clearly has a great and long career ahead of her as a tennis player. American sportsperson Serena Williams is her biggest inspiration and one wouldn’t be surprised if she manages to achieve more than what her idol has.

The album version of the song ‘Shock/Shogeki’ by Yuko Ando, which is the ending theme song of “Attack on Titan, The Final season Part 1” is out now. It is great timing because the TV anime “Attack on Titan, The Final Season Part 2” has just started to air in Japan and has been getting so much attention. When “Attack on Titan, the Final Season Part 1” aired, fans who had watched the music video of the song ‘Shock/Shogeki’ noticed that Yuko Ando was not singing the last lyrics of the song. So, people have been curious about this mysterious missing line.

The reason why the last line of the lyrics was not sung at that time was because the story was continuing after ‘Attack on Titan, The Final season part 1’, and the last line contained spoilers which could not be revealed at that time. But since the original manga has finally ended when Yuko Ando released the album, she recorded this same song again with the last line of the song added, and she included the whole completed song into her new album.

It seems that there are more songs about ‘Attack on Titan’ sung by Yuko Ando. ‘Children of the Forest/ Mori No Kora’ and ‘Goodbye Halo’ are also songs Yuko Ando tried to create for the world of ‘Attack on Titan’. When she first released the album in November there was no official information about the connection between these two songs and anime story. But through some interviews Yuko Ando herself admitted that she created these songs after she read the manga ‘Attack on Titan’. It is obvious when you read the lyrics that she created the songs inspired by the story. Many fans of the song ‘Shock/Shogeki’ pointed out that the song ‘Goodbye Halo’ is about Eren and Mikasa on SNS.

Both the opening and ending songs of ‘Attack on Titan’ are great as usual. Please enjoy the final season of the TV anime ‘Attack on Titan’ with the great songs by Yuko Ando. She hopes to complete the world of ‘Attack on Titan’ with her song by adding the missing words.

When asked a question about her first song of the album, ‘All the little things’ which seemed like a very lively song full of positive energy, Yuko Ando said, ‘Actually I was thinking of creating a little bit of a dark feeling song at the beginning. The last song of the album ‘Shock/Shogeki’ is the ending theme song of the ‘Attack on Titan, The Final season part 1’. When the last comic book of the ‘Attack on Titan’ series was published I felt that I wanted to create a song which will show the real ending of the story. Then I created the song, ‘Goodbye Halo’. So, when I started making the song ‘All the little things’, I was thinking of keeping the same tone, like a self-reflection, which ‘Goodbye Halo’ has.’

The India Internet Engineering Society (IIESoc) is set to expand a series of webinars that will support enterprises and organizations seeking to understand and implement IPv6 in the Asia Pacific.

It can be difficult to encourage enterprises and universities to adopt IPv6. One of the issues is a lack of understanding about the technical aspects of IPv6 among some enterprise technicians. Sometimes, technicians seek training but management does not always see the business case for adoption. These webinars aim to help address this misconception.

IIESoc is a non-profit working towards increasing the awareness, participation, and adoption of  Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards. IIESoc has an MoU with a US-based non-profit Industry Network Technology Council (INTC) working on a similar goal in the North American region.

In 2020, IIESoc and the INTC launched a series of webinars that helped enterprises and universities develop IPv6 skills, supported by the Information Society Innovation Fund (ISIF Asia). This grant will continue and expand the previous series of webinars.

Since 2008 ISIF Asia is supporting Internet development in the APAC region. ISIF Asia is a program of the APNIC Foundation. The APNIC Foundation leverages APNIC’s 25+ years of proven technical and developmental leadership to build human and community capacity for Internet development in the region. As the Regional Internet address Registry (RIR) for the Asia Pacific, APNIC has a unique position as an authoritative, respected, and trusted not-for-profit.

IPv6 deployment at NITK

The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, India expressed interest in migrating to IPv6 when IIESoc received a grant from ISIF Asia in 2020. The team from NITK Surathkal actively participated in the IPv6 webinars conducted by IIESoc, and in parallel, initiated the process to migrate their campus network to IPv6. During the migration process, the team from NITK Surathkal contributed back to IIESoc by delivering a couple of demo sessions on DHCPv6 and IPv6 in Cloud in the IPv6 webinar series, sharing their experiences from practical experiments. They also presented a lightning talk at APNIC 52 and published an article in IEEE Region 10 Computer Society Newsletter (July-September edition, 2021). Currently, the team at NITK Surathkal has finalized the address plan for their campus network and are in the process of leasing the IPv6 address block from the local Internet registry in India. Moreover, the team at NITK Surathkal, in collaboration with IIESoc and INTC, is preparing a document outlining the steps involved in migrating University campus networks to IPv6 in India.

IPv6 Webinars

New technologies such as 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT) are not only gaining traction but are poised to transform our lives in the coming years.   Will these inherently imply a transition to  IPv6 at enterprises?  We will be discussing this in our upcoming webinar series on IoT.  We will have a kick-off session at our annual Connections conference in April.  We will follow this up with a guided series on IoT.   We are working with a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) available on Coursera developed by IMT Atlantique France, one of the top 10 engineering schools in France.

A description of the class:

Industry 4.0 is an emerging domain of application for the Internet of Things (IoT), with the goal of reducing the management cost and contributing to the automation of the Operational Technology (OT) found in production chains in factories. Cost reduction can be achieved, in particular, by replacing the existing cables with a wireless medium, as long as an appropriate level of service for critical applications can still be guaranteed at all times.  Therefore, the standardization organizations put efforts into defining open standards for enabling a common architecture addressing the factories of the future requirements. By presenting the building blocks of such architecture, this MOOC will help the learners to adapt to the fast-changing environment in the communication for Industrial IoT.

Session 1: Introduction

This MOOC will be done over a span of 10 weeks.  The flow will be that the participants will log on to Coursera to do the session, then we will host a webinar for questions and answers.  The webinars will be every two weeks with the panellists being many of the people at the IETF who wrote the RFCs for these protocols as well as the professor(s) from IMT Atlantique France.

This year we will continue with IPv6 webinars focusing on operational considerations while migrating to IPv6 as well as the key role that IoT could play for the enterprises in moving towards IPv6 migration.
