Gurugram (Haryana): Gurugram Police have detained 13 suspected Bangladeshi nationals allegedly residing in the city illegally and have initiated the process for their deportation, an official said. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Naveen Sharma said the Crime Branch had received information around a month ago that some Bangladeshi nationals were living illegally in India and working as labourers at various locations in Gurugram. "Acting on this intelligence, the team detained 13 Bangladeshi nationals who were staying in the country illegally. Upon verifying their documents, it was confirmed that they had entered India unlawfully. Consequently, proceedings for their deportation were initiated," Sharma said. He said the 13 detainees are being taken to Malda Town in West Bengal under the escort of an inspector and a team of 23 police personnel, where they will be handed over to the security agencies for further deportation proceedings. According to Sharma, the detained individuals had been living in different parts of Gurugram, working as labourers while staying in rented accommodations. The ACP also appealed to the public to support law enforcement by reporting suspicious individuals. "We appeal to all citizens to contribute to national security. If you come across individuals such as tenants, labourers, domestic workers, hotel staff, or construction workers whom you find suspicious, please report the information by calling 112 or contacting your nearest police station," he said.
